Mudride Radio - Mudcast 36 [84MB | 1h 13m 13s]
[Like Mudride Radio on Facebook]
I’ve been wanting to do another reggae-centric Mudcast for a few months now, but much of my own collection is stuff you’d hear anywhere (aka: lots of Marley). And while that’s not a bad thing, there’s lots more cool reggae out there, so I contacted a friend of mine down in Melbourne, VIC - Chris Eccles - and asked if he wanted to put together a reggae Mudcast. And he blew my mind with what he suggested.
See, he was good friends with Lewis Marnell - a famous skater who lived in the Melbourne area, who was into old VWs, and who unfortunately passed away in 2013. Chris spent lots of time telling me stories of Lewis and I also googled up a bunch of videos of him skating and just talking about stuff (some of which I’ve sampled into this Mudcast) and it really touched me. The world lost a great man when Lewis passed. But Chris gave me this reggae mix and Lewis himself made a few years back and together, we want to share that vibe and that memory with everyone. So sit back, get mellow, and #blazeforlewis
Little John - Badness is Madness
Billy Boyo - One Spliff a Day
Phillip Fraser - Bad Boys
Rod Taylor - Mr. Money Man
Wayne Jarrett & Silver Fox - Saturday Night Jamboree
Wayne Wade - Don’t Worry
Wayne Smith - Ain’t No Me Without You
Anthony Johnson - Mother Mother
Junior Murvin - Police & Thieves
Johnny Osbourne - Qua She
Triston Palma - Joker Smoker
Barrington Levy - Sensimilla
Little John - Mr. Babylon
Lone Range - M-16
Clive Field Marshall - State Trooper Style
Johnny Osbourne - Nightfall
Wayne Jarrett - You and I
Hugh Mundell - Red, Gold, and Green
Barry Brown - Physical Fitness
Half Pint - Don’t Let it Fade Away
If you like what you’re hearing, do everything you can to support the artists (wherever they are, whatever they’re doing now)! That’s how they make a living, so we gotta do our part! For September, I’ve got a return some EDM and grime lined up. Stay tuned!

Mudride Radio - Mudcast 35 [77MB | 1h 07m 12s]
[Like Mudride Radio on Facebook]
July July. However the weather, wherever you are, it’s time to travel, well, back to the future…of sorts! Shockingly, we’ve gone 34 Mudcasts without an 80s tribute. Three 90s mixes, but nothing to celebrate the highlighter-color-fueled haze that was the 80s. So put on your Hypercolor shirts and checkerboard Vans, and let’s go!
Ray Stevens - Cannonball
Genesis - Land of Confusion
Fishbone - Party at Ground Zero
The Specials - Ghost Town
Information Society - What’s on Your Mind?
Living Colour - Cult of Personality
Big Audio Dynamite - E=MC2
DJ Emmett L. Brown - 1.21 Gigawatts (Redux)
The Clash - Rock the Casbah
Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio
The B-52s - Channel Z
Oingo Boingo - Weird Science
Devo - Beautiful World
Falco - Rock Me Amadeus
Robert Hazard - Escalator of Life
If you like what you’re hearing, do everything you can to support the artists (wherever they are, whatever they’re doing now)! That’s how they make a living, so we gotta do our part! For August, I’m genuinely honored to be bringing you a very special reggae mix. A little something to mellow you out as summer (or winter) drags on! Stay tuned!

Mudride Radio - Mudcast 33 [59MB | 51m 53s]
[Like Mudride Radio on Facebook]
May is here and for, at least, the Northern hemisphere, it’s starting to heat up! And this month I’m excited to bring you a follow-up mix from DJ BatzelB of the Old City Oil Drippers. I give BatzelB lots of credit for encouraging me to start Mudride Radio in the first place because it was he who kept a library of the old Hoodride Radio mixes. So thank you, sir, and on with the tunes!
The Ramones - Do You Remember Rock n Roll Radio?
Fugazi - Waiting Room
The Doors - Five to One
The White Stripes - Hello Operator
Roy Buchanan - Done Your Daddy Dirty
Wolfmother - Witchcraft
Led Zepplin - Royal Orleans
Fishbone - Sunless Saturday
Death of Fashion - Come Alone
Jesus and Mary Chain - Head On
Face to Face - Disconnected
Dramarama - Anything, Anything
Black Train Jack - Catalina
Frank Black (with Teenage Fan Club) - Handyman
The Descendents - Wendy
If you like what you’re hearing, do everything you can to support the artists! That’s how they make a living, so we gotta do our part! What I started building as Mudcast 33, I’ll go ahead and release next month as Mudcast 34. It’ll be another rocker, so we’ll get you squared away with some good tunes to BBQ by!

Mudride Radio - Mudcast 31 [81MB | 1h 11m 23s]
[Like Mudride Radio on Facebook]
A little backstory on this Mudcast, folks. I was working with a tracklist (that will now likely be #32) that hadn’t quite gelled yet. At the same time, I was getting back into playing Gran Turismo 4 (yes, 4, I only have a PS2) and had collected a bunch of tracks from the various GT soundtracks and had really become focused on the idea of driving passion and what that means to car guys.
During that period, I also learned that my dad (who I credit greatly with raising me a gearhead) had, over the past few months, suffered from two small strokes. He’s also been diagnosed diabetic and he’s really taken a hit to his health. And that really hit me. I’ve lost grandparents, but for some reason I always saw my folks as untouchable. Well, that got me very introspective for a while and when I couldn’t find quotes from pop culture that truly captured what was in my mind, I just turned on the digital recorder and started talking. And much of that comprises the samples in this month’s mix.
So, it’s more of me than I like to hear in any given mix, but I’m happy that it also serves as a bit of a tribute to my roots of automotive passion.
The Cardigans - My Favourite Game
Fear Factory - Cars
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Sub Focus - Rock It (GT5 Edit)
Nero - Me & You (Dirtyphonics Remix)
James Brown - Call Me Superbad (GT Mix)
Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way? (Gran Turismo Mix)
Apollo 440 - Cold Rock the Mic
Bootsy and Friends - D-Greasy’s Rides
Kele - Tenderoni
Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart
The Crystal Method - Now is the Time (Millennium Mix)
Depeche Mode - Soothe My Soul (Feed Me Mix)
DJ Fresh - Talk Box (GT5 Mix)
Fuck Buttons - The Libson Maru (Mudride Manifesto Mix)
If you like what you’re hearing, do everything you can to support the artists! That’s how they make a living, so we gotta do our part! And if you’re now utterly sick of hearing me talk over music, hang tight for next month’s mix. I promise there’ll be a lot less of that!
